When talked about skincare, Western and Asian girls have very different ideas. Western girls love to get a tan while a lot of Asian girls prefer to stay as fair as possible, hence whitening products sales are over the roof in Asia. But whitening is not all about staying fair, it’s also about brightening your skin and achieving a more even skin tone. Given we are stepping into winter here in Australia, it’s the perfect time to get our skin brightening game on!
The three fundamental steps of skincare are cleansing, moisturising, and sun protection. As much as I love to include skin brightening elements in every step of my skincare routine, sometimes brightening products could be a bit harsh. Luckily, Elemis White Brightening Even Tone Cleanser (RRP $95) is not the case.
Not only is this foaming cleanser super gentle on skin, but it also has a very soothing and pleasant herbal fragrance that makes you relax. It’s like treating yourself to a mini spa at home!
Its formula contains a unique complex of daisy, encapsulated Vitamin C, sophora and kiwi extract that targets skin discolouration and pigmentation to brighten the skin tone.
Ok, it sounds awesome but does it work? Here’s my pre-wash face…
And here’s my face after using the cleanser! I couldn’t tell if it really reduces the appearance of skin discolouration and dark spots immediately but I’d say my face is definitely brightened!
The cleanser removes impurities and leaves a mattified yet non-drying complexion. I have very dry skin. Sometimes foam cleanser will leave my skin feeling too dry but my skin feels clean, soft and supple after using this one from Elemis.
The direction suggests using 2-3 pumps of the cleanser to massage over the whole face. But I found 2 pumps is more than enough when used with a facial cleansing brush. After all, the cleanser is not cheap and a little help from a gadget can go a long way!
Do you use skin brightening products? Why or why not?
*Thanks Elemis Australia for providing the product sample, but the opinions is mine as always.
