I love restyling old items to create new outfits. This top and skirt have been worn separately for numerous times but when paired together they create an interesting stripe on stripe effect.
You probably all know by now how much I love midi full skirts. For a casual weekend brunch, I styled this lace skirt with a black sheer striped top. The two items complement each other to give a modern twist to both the classic mid-calf length skirt as well as what we normally think of stripes.
This looks is all about the interesting subtlety the stripey items offer. So I tried to keep the rest of the really simple with some black striped low-heel sandals and a grey bag.
As I said in the beginning of today’s post, I love restyling old items. But there’s a point you feel like certain items in your wardrobe just don’t feel right any more – too flashy, too tight, too loose, too dated… I tend to organise my closet once in a while and clear out things I haven’t been wearing for a while. Sometime I do a second hand sale at a flea market, hoping to find new homes for these items. Yet, most of the time, they will end up in a donation box.
If you are thinking about doing a clean-up of your closet, this week may be the best time to do it. H&M is launching World Recycle Week. From 18th to 24th April, they are going to collect unwanted garments and recycle them to created recycled textile fibres for new products.
You can either drop them off at one of their stores or head to their collection points in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth during the week. As a token of thanks, they will give you a 15% off voucher (2 per pag with a limit of 4 per person per day) to spend in store. The skirt I am wearing here is still in stock in their Sydney Pitt Street store. So it’s time to part with those sweat pants you haven’t been wearing for two years and update your wardrobe with some newbies. 😉
