Gilded Cage is a new Aussie beauty brand that is designed in Paris and made in Italy. It has been on my radar for a while now. That’s why I was so excited to see its Unleashed Lipstick showing up in The Parcel Autumn Edit, and decided to do a separate blog post for it.
Before I move on to the meat of this review, I have to say the packaging of this lippie is absolutely stunning. The matte tube with the thin gold lettering looks really classy. After all, half of the time we ladies are attracted by the cute packaging of a product as much as by the product itself!
As I have mentioned in my review of The Parcel Autumn Edit last week, the colour I received is #107 Sparkling Mauve. When I first saw the word “Mauve”, it reminded me of something what mums in the 90s’ would wear (sorry, mums). Throw “Sparkling” into the mix, and it sounded like the worst beauty nightmare you could ever have. But I was so wrong about this lipstick! It turned out to be much prettier and wearable than I have expected.
Yes, it does sparkle but nothing crazily over the top or too glittery. Instead, it is more like a pearlescent rosy pink than mauve.
It comes out to be quite natural on my lips. You can also see how it looks like under bright sunlight in my last outfit post. It almost looks like my natural lip colours with just a tinge of metallic shine which I really like. But if you are after a real “mauve” lippie, you may want to pass on this one.
The lipstick is formulated with wild mango butter, water lily and orchid flower extracts and natural collagen boosters to deliver a full colour yet weightless finish. Wear-wise, you do need a touch up after meals but no bleeding or drying out the lips is a plus.
If they can make a mauve lipstick look this good, I will definitely want to check out their other lippies, especially the True Orange one.
Have you tried Gilded Cage before? Do you like it?
