Ichi-ban Boshi is where I tend to go on a rainy day when I am in Bondi Junction. So the other day I took a friend there for some pre-shopping ramen.
Located on Oxford Street, the Bondi Junction ramen shop is one of the three Ichi-ban Boshi stores in Sydney. The other two are in Sydney CBD, perfect for a quick ramen fix when you are in the city.
Moving back to the food at Ichi-ban Boshi, my friend got the Aburi Chashu-men. The Japanese style roast pork looked so heavenly! I stole a piece of the pork from her, and it was quite tender and delicious.
The pan-fried pork and veggie Gyoza we shared were of decent standard but nothing really spectacular.
When I visit the Bondi Junction joint, I always go with their seasonal special. This time I ordered their Chicken Dan Dan Men, which was a fusion of the traditional Chinese Dan Dan Noodles and Japanese ramen. The sesame-fused broth was surprisingly light yet flavourful. It didn’t disappoint but I wouldn’t say it was the best ramen I have had from them.
Low-key and budget-friendly, Ichi-ban Boshi is a good place for a quick tasty lunch in Bondi Junction. However, it’s cash-only. So do remember to grab some cash before you head there for your ramen quest.
