This $9 Drugstore Brand Toner Actually Works

DSC00515Not to exaggerate the situation, but it could get quite difficult to find a drugstore brand toner in Australia that actually works well on me. Courtesy to staying up late, my super dry skin has become a bit sensitive lately. This is when I return to my trusty Formula 10.0.6 So Totally Clean Everyday Cleanser Sensitive Formula.

I was introduced to this toner by a friend several years ago, and have used up numerous bottles of it since then. For those who are unfamiliar with the brand Formula 10.0.6, it is an Aussie skin care brand created in 1933 by a chemist. The brand is most famous for targeting troublesome young skin.

Well, I am not that young but I do find this lightly-fragranced toner works very well on my skin. This toner is designed for sensitive skin, and it also comes with a version for oily or acne-prone skin (here). I usually apply it on a cotton pad and wipe over my face and neck after cleansing or before putting make-up on. Even though it’s completely alcohol-free, you can still feel a cooling effect from its cucumber extract when applying it to your skin.

The chamomile in its formula helps calming the skin and refining pores, while the sea kelp clears impurities and soothes the skin. I find it particular soothing after being under the sun.

For a remedy to dry skin or after-sun treatment, I will soak a couple cotton pads with it and put them on my face as a facial mask for 10 minutes. My skin feels hydrated and more refined afterwards!

Formula 10.0.6 So Totally Clean Everyday Cleanser Sensitive Formula is set at RRP $8.99 and can be found in Priceline, Target and Big W. But once in a while, it will go on sale for 20-25% off at Priceline. For less than AUD $10, why wouldn’t you grab a bottle and try it for yourself?

Do you have a favourite drugstore brand toner?

    • Hi Gemma,
I did a quick search and Birchbox UK actually stocks the original formula of this toner (with alcohol in it). So somewhere out there in the UK might have stocked this one too. 😉
