Just when I was thinking about doing a holiday season beauty post, I got tagged by the lovely Linda from Miss Lindapendent to do a Q&A post on Beauty and Christmas! Speaking of a sign from the universe! So let’s get this party started!
1. Have you been naughty or nice this year with your skincare routine?
As much as I want to brag I am the perfect role model in skincare routine, I have actually been quite lazy this year. But that being said, I still follow the three skincare basis: cleansing, moisturising, and sun-protection very strictly. No matter how tired I am, I always remove my makeup, wash my face, and apply toner and moisturiser before hitting the bed.
2. What’s the go-to beauty, makeup or skincare product you would gift to your family and friends?
I usually shy away from gifting beauty products to people simply because everyone has different skin conditions. But if I have to gift one beauty product, I’d choose a hand cream or makeup bag – a girl can never have too many of the former, and no one is allergic to the latter. Say this one from Tigerlily will be quite perfect for the BFF!
3. Do you mind gifting high-end products or rather drug store products to others?
I shop both high-end and drugstore products myself, so it really depends on who I am buying for. It’s more important to find the right gift for the right person than buying an expensive present.
4. What are the beauty products you’re hoping to get to see under your Christmas tree this year?
I have bought the Urban Decay Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette myself earlier this year, and I am totally in love! I don’t really do smoky eyes but the Naked Smoky Eyeshadow Palette’s packaging is so swoon-worthy! Look how cool that marble-like/smoky transparent base is!
5. What is the beauty product that you’re dreading to receive for Christmas this year?
I don’t want to sound ungrateful but I am very particular with my perfume. Over the years, I have received some really gorgeous scents that I don’t know what to do with them! It’s better to save these lovely perfumes for someone who will truly enjoy them.
6. Are you participating in Blogmas this year? If so what is the post you’re most proud of so far?
Not really. I am keeping my regular posting schedule (new post goes live every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday) versus some bloggers are going all out to do one post each day as a Christmas countdown. But I have themed two posts around the holiday season so far (you can see them here and here).
7. Do you remember the first beauty product you received as a Christmas present? What was it and did you enjoy it?
I think the first beauty product I received as a Christmas present was a bottle of Truth Calvin Klein. The scent was nice but I didn’t fall in love with it.
Ironically, I received my `THE ONE’ a couple years later from Mr. D on Christmas. It was Marc Jacobs Grass Splash. Too bad it is discontinued now. Maybe it’s time to find a new `soul mate’ (winking at Mr. D)?
8. What mini size product would you recommend as a great stocking stuffer?
Like I said before, I like gifting hand creams. So the L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream (RRP $13.00) is on top of my list for a great stocking filler. I may or may not have grabbed one for myself.
The Love Balm (RRP $16.00) from Jurlique is a universal beauty gift for both boys and girls. It is a natural salve that can be applied on lips, cuticles, elbows or anywhere skin is chafed and irritated. It works on sensitive skin too!
For the mani lover, I will suggest the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Limited-Edition Du0 Packs (RRP $19.95/ea). I just can’t stress enough how good this nail polish range is (see reviews here and here). If you girlfriends are into a quality home mani, grab these for them and they’d love you to death!
9. Would you rather you friends and family ask you gifts you wanted to receive or have them surprise you?
Umm…it really depends. As a Pisces girl, I love surprising my loved ones with gifts. To me, gifting is more than just the face value of the gift but it also shows the person you have him/her on your mind. Your choice of gift is a reflection on how much you know about that person. But I understand some people can be quite stressed out about getting the wrong gifts, so I am very flexible when it comes to gifting arrangement.
10. What is your favourite way to show Christmas spirit through your look or outfit?
I always like to have a LBD to fall back on during the holiday season. With the right accessories, you can reinvent your look for more than one party you are going to hit. Think statement jewellery and cute clutches for a little bit of Christmas spirit.
So here is my 10 Christmas and beauty questions tag. Thank you for tagging me, Linda!
