Cup Day in the Office

DSC09077 (2)Happy Melbourne Cup Day! For those who are in Australia, are you heading to the racecourses today? Well, I am going to work. But there will be a Cup Day catch-up with a client as well as an office party, i.e. a work-appropriate Spring Racing outfit is needed!

Unlike hitting the trackside, you want to doll up but not too over the top when you are doing a Cup Day thing in the office. A lovely print skirt is my answer! This voluminous scuba circle skirt from H&M will glam up any outfit in a second. Pair it up with a black top, and you will get that subtle wow effect immediately. I noticed they took down this skirt from the Aussie H&M site but it is still in stock in the new Sydney CBD store.

I don’t really want to wear a hat indoor all day, and I most certainly don’t want to deal with hat hair at work. So I opt for a lightweight fascinator to give myself options of keeping it on or off along the day. I bet nobody would want to see a girl trying to hold her fascinator in place while chasing the bus!

I always love mixing a feminine look with masculine details. This whole silhouette screamed girly so I styled it with some studded flats, a cool rope ring, and a pair of double pearl studs. I also took the chain strap off my bag to use it as a clutch. Put the strap back on after work, take off the fascinator, and I will be cruising home in my comfy flats!

    • Haha, I actually got a little nervous when my client suggested to wear hats together for the meeting as I don’t really have a nice head shape for hats. Luckily, fascinators are equally popular in Spring Racing fashion. 😛

    • This skirt is really comfy. Although it has a zipper, it still has a bit stretch around the waistline which makes it fit really well on different body types. You should go to H&M and have a look! 😉
