Stripes on Stripes and Blogger’s Promise

DSC08305Horizontal stripes are such a closet staple for almost everyone. However, I’ve always shied away from wearing them in fear of they are going to make me look wider. But I have told myself: hey, you are writing a fashion blog, you should push yourself out of your comfort zone from time to time because there is no limit in fashion! So here we go!

Ok, maybe those horizontal lines do look a little scary but their vertical counterpart doesn’t. Vertical stripes usually make people look slimmer. So why not pair the two together (and you know I’m not talking about plaids here)? You can even create a matchy-matchy `co-ord’ effect and bring a breath of fresh air to those trusty old stripes sitting in the back of your closet.

A long line vest will not only keep you warm when that spring gust strikes, but it also posts an elongating effect on you and means business at the same time. Swap those sandals with some close toe heels, and you can probably get away with wearing shorts at work as long as you don’t have very straight dress code in the office.

Oh, and that top from The Fifth Label I am wearing here is so comfy that I don’t even want to take it off! It is on crazy sale on BNKR website at the moment but all the smaller sizes are gone. For those who can lay their hands on one (either on BNKR or not) should totally get it! This top comes in two stripy patterns as well as one floral option. The floral one is made of a non-stretchy crepe like material instead of the sturdy jersey in this stripy one here.

Now you have read about my first stripy attempt this spring, and probably start to wonder what’s with the title of today’s post. I was tagged by the lovely Bing from The Big Bing Theory to share my blogger’s promise a couple weeks ago, and mine are as follows:

I promise I will always stay true to my own opinion in my blog.

I promise I will always include a disclosure statement in my reviews on PR samples.

I promise I will push my own envelope more often and strive to build a better blog here.

I promise I will take better care of my health and try to exercise at least three times a week.

I promise I will never stop fighting for my dreams, never.

How would you wear your stripes? And if you were going to write a couple lines of blogger’s promise, what would that be?

    • Thanks Scarlett! Haha, I am actually really bad at wearing flip flops. I walk really slow in them and keep losing them while I am walking. Better keep it simple (and less embarrassing) with some cute sandals in the summer. 😛
