It is no secret that I love full midi skirts. They are so classy, they are so flattering, and they are so Mad Men! Ok, maybe I have gone a little too far. But the point is you just can’t really go wrong with a full midi skirt, not with a black one.
A black full midi skirt is a closet staple, and it will stay in your wardrobe forever. If you are going to get only one mid-length full skirt, get a black one. I actually scored mine at Trade Secret several months ago for AUD $30 only, ka-ching! And I have been wearing it non-stop.
However, sometimes an all-black midi skirt ensemble can come across quite matronly. Since I had no intention to look like the mean headmistress in A Little Princess, I decided to play with the textures. A semi-sheer boxy crop top makes the skirt looks more urbane, and a leather jacket is always a good idea to set the too-cool-for-school tone. This is 2015, after all.
Finish it off with a pair of metallic blue heel sandals and some fuchsia lips to give the look a bright bit of daytime appeal. Oh, and don’t forget that cute little zebra print pony clutch. There, this is how I embrace my inner Betty Draper in modern terms. 😉
