Right now, the biggest trend for flats is lace-up pointy-toes. It doesn’t need me to say how those cute shoes from Aquazzura, Michael Kors, Jimmy Choo, and Tibi have been flooding magazine pages and our Instagram feeds. It’s the perfect hybrid of comfort and style! But for those who aren’t ready to splurge (or who want them in every single colour available), look no further, ahead are my review on these pretty lace-ups from Boden as well as a round-up on other affordable options out there.
My lace-up flats quest has continued for months, simply because I was being very particular – I want them to be in a bright colour and made in leather. God knows how many great High Street options just went right out of the window once I’ve set those two criteria! Therefore, it took me quite a while to finally lock in these from Boden.
These Boden cuties come in three colours. The colour I chose was Jaffa, which is a very lovely orange (also available in Navy and Silver). Mr. D thought they look too yellowish online and he wasn’t completely sold till he saw them came out of the box. As you can see, the colour is bright but not as into your face as my midi skirt here. I think they will not only make a great addition to my relatively darker tones winter wardrobe, but will also be put into good use when the warmer seasons come.
These flats feature a nice, soft suede upper with leather lining, which makes them very comfy to walk in. Fit-wise, I took my usual size 37 and they feel true to size. But I can understand why some of the online reviewers think they run smaller as the toe box is quite pointy.
My only complaint about these flats is that they were taken off the Australian site when I placed my order. I contacted the Boden customer service team, and they said these were on clearance and were very unlikely to be put back up on the Aussie site. I was madly in love with them so I paid extra shipping fee to get them from Boden’s UK site anyway. However, they are now live again in the clearance section of the Aussie site – which is good news for my fellow Aussie shoppers.
Overall, I am very happy with these lace-up flats from Boden, and here are a few other leather options without the hefty price tags:
Topshop KATHY Ghillie Pointed Shoes | about AUD $147
Topshop KISS Tassel Ghillie Shoes | about AUD $133
Topshop KINGDOM Ghillie Pointed Shoes | about AUD $126
Jeffrey Campbell Shay Lace Up Flat | AUD $176.37
Jeffrey Campbell Enarmored Cutout Flat | about AUD $143
Wittner Rallo Flats | AUD $179.95
Senso Gia I Flats | AUD $259
Aldo Colyn Flats | AUD $119.95
Have you jumped on this shoe trend? If so, how do you style your lace-ups?
