Yay, weekend is almost here! That means date nights are happening (fingers crossed). Feeling clueless in front of your closet (aka Pandora’s Box) before a big date? No worries, I hear you!
Let’s be honest: first dates and job interviews are probably the two most nerve-wracking events in the book as both rely heavily on first impressions. While a sleek and clean look is always a win for job interviews, first dates on the other hand seem to have no rules to follow. After a million of trials and errors (as well as tears) for me and my girls, here are the three items you should steer clear of on your first date with the potential Mr. Right.
1. Boyfriend Jeans
I love boyfriend jeans as much as any other girl. They are super comfortable, they are stylish, and they show off our very feminine ankles. But unfortunately, guys just don’t get it. These “boyish charms” remind them of moms’ jeans (in a bad way), and that is the last thing you want on a hot date. Save these boyish numbers for a girls’ night, and swap for your trustworthy skinny jeans or a maxi skirt if you want some leg coverage.
2. Baggy Tops
Just like boyfriend jeans, baggy tops yell “frumpy” to a lot of guys. Opt for a curve-hugging jersey peplum top to play up the hourglass silhouette (and to hide the food baby). You will be amazed by how the pheromones fly.
3. Plunging V-neck Bodycon Dresses
For the first date, it is crucial to keep things classy yet flirty. Taking the “girls” out for a walk in a plunging V-neck bandage dress may send out the wrong message. A cute fit and flare dress will still spice things up without giving away too much – emotionally and sartorially – too soon.
Speaking of first date outfits, what are your Do’s and Don’ts?
